How To Buy a Website Domain and Choose A Good Domain Name
Hey guys!
Interested in buying a domain name for your website to make it official? GREAT! Because it can help your website become MUCH more successful.
Search engines trust websites more if they have a reputable domain name, which means they will rank your website closer to the first page. Once it is on the first page, or the top spot, then you will get more visitors to your website. And you know what that means? MORE SALES!
The best website domain names end in .com , .org , .net , etc. In this post I will cover where the best place is to buy a website domain, how to choose a good domain name for your specific website, and how to set your new domain up on your website!
First You Need A Website
If you are reading this, chances are you already have a website of your own. But if you don’t, then you need to either create a website or buy a profitable website .
You can buy a profitable website, but you have to continue to work on it so it will keep profiting and increasing its profit or it will fail. Buying a website domain name for is a great first step (if it doesn’t already come with a good domain name).
If you can’t afford to buy a profitable website, then you can create one of your own, like I have. It is a lot easier than you think! If you are a beginner, the easiest way to get started is with the program that I use and that has made me successful.

The Best Place To Buy A Website Domain Name
After you have your website, you then need to find the best place for you to buy a website domain. This can be hard because there are more places offering to sell domain names than ever. I am going to name 2 of the very beast places for you to buy a website domain.
The first place I bought a domain name from was NameCheap . They offer VERY affordable domain names, and you only have to renew it every year (which is like most places). I pay $10/year for my domains, and I always forget about them, haha. Which is why I like that you can auto-renew them every year, so it will automatically come out of your bank account. That way you wont lose your domain, because if you forget to renew it you can lose it!
You can store a card or use PayPal, and the domains will be yours until you decide you don’t want them anymore. In which case you can also sell a domain name. That’s right, if you don’t want your domain anymore you can make a little money off of it.
All you do is type in the domain you want to use, and see if it is available for you to purchase.
NameCheap also offers hosting for your website. Every website needs hosting in order to stay alive, and you can purchase very affordable hosting on NameCheap if your website doesn’t already have it.
Another place you can buy a website domain is at Wealthy Affiliate . However, WA offers WAY more than just domains and hosting. If you sign up with them ( with a FREE starter account ) you can learn how to create your own website, get free hosing , and buy your website domain name all in one place!
Yes, you can build a website completely free at Wealthy Affiliate. I’m not going to lie to you though, there is also a Premium Membership option at WA, but you do not have to become a Premium Member if you don’t want to. The point is, there is a free option , which NO OTHER program offers. So with WA there really isn’t any risk involved.
After you create a website at WA, you can go to the website domain area of your free account, and choose a domain name to use for your new website. It’s that easy. Of course, your domain has to be available in order for you to purchase it, so you might have to think outside the box.
If the domain you want is available, then click to add it to your cart and set up the payment.

How To Register A Website Domain
Once you have your website domain name chosen and purchased, you can then register it with your website.
All you have to do is go to your hosting company (NameCheap, WA, GoDaddy, or wherever your hosting is through), and they will provide you with a primary and secondary Domain Name Server (DNS). A DNS translates domain names into IP addresses. These are links you can copy from your web host, and then paste it to the DNS settings of the domain that you purchasd.
If you bought your domain from NameCheap, you would login to NameCheap, go to your domain list, then click “manage” on the domain you want to register, go to DNS name server settings, and then paste the DNS links from your web host into your DNS info for that domain.
It takes about 2 days for the DNS network to be able to translate your domain and display your site on the internet with your new domain name.
Below is a video I made on how to buy a website domain from NameCheap, and how to register it with your web host…
How To Choose A Good Domain Name – Create A Website Domain
After you have your website and have found the best place for you to buy a website domain, you have to choose a good domain name for your website. When you create a website domain, it is entirely up to you.
However, it has to relate to what you are selling or promoting on your website. For example; If you have a website where you write about hiking and sell hiking equipment, then it has to be something related to hiking, like “HikingAndBeyond.com.”
Also make sure it is as specific as possible. You can make your hiking website domain something like “GetReadyToHike.com” instead of LetsGet Adventurous.com” because being adventurous could mean many other things. If someone is specifically looking for hiking equipment, which do you think they would rather click on?
You also want your website domain to be short and to the point, long website domains just aren’t as successful.
Your domain can also be the name of your website. If your website is called Get Ready To Hike then “GetReadyToHike.com” would be perfect, if it’s available. If it isn’t available, see if you can get close to it. Like “LetsGetHiking.com,” it’s a little different but it is still related to the content.
If you really want a domain that isn’t available, you can search for it on NameCheap , and there is an option for you “Make an Offer” and see if they are willing to sell it. Otherwise, you will have to choose another one.
Have Fun With This!
You are in the process of creating a profitable and successful website, so HAVE FUN with this. Be creative and collaborate with others. Create a website domain that fits your website, but that also fits you as a person.
If you choose a website domain and then decide you don’t want it anymore, it’s OK! Just try to sell it and create a new one, however it is best to do this in the beginning when you are initially creating the website. You DO NOT want to change your domain after your website has been established online , because it would be like starting all over again.
How Much Do Website Domains Cost?
Website domains usually cost anywhere from $5 – $15/year . When building a business, the domain is the cheapest thing you will buy to make it successful. So it is TOTALLY worth it.
Be careful though. With some domains you have to purchase it first and then pay yearly for it. The price depends on how good your domain is. For example; If you want to buy the domain “GetHiking.com” from NameCheap you have to pay more than $6,000 to purchase it first, then it’s $8.88/year. But if you want to buy “LetsGetHiking.com” it’s only $8.88/year without an initial purchase.
Be specific, and don’t spend a lot of money when you don’t have to.
